UEFA have rejected Real Madrid’s latest bid to register both new signings Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Lassana Diarra for the Champions League knockout stages.
UEFA’s appeals body said on Tuesday the Spanish club’s request “to be able to register two players who have already competed in UEFA competition this season” had been rejected.
Champions League regulations say clubs can register up to three new players for the knockout rounds by Feb. 1 but only one who has already played this season in Europe with his previous club. Real, who play Liverpool in the last 16 of the Champions League, have already suggested they could take the case all theway to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
